FATHER KILLS SON, SELF: CUSTODY BATTLE BEHIND PA. DAD'S MURDER-SUICIDE?

Breaking: A father killed his 2-year-old son and died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound Saturday, citing a March 24 ABC top newsreport. In an effort to retrieve her son's dead body, the man's estranged wife was shot in the face, but is expected to live. The Pennsylvania shooting is part of an alleged murder-suicide over a heated child custody battle, according to authorities.
Huntingdon County authorities say Kenneth Ayers, 52, is the man believed to be behind the bloody rampage that left him and his son Michael dead.
Ayers' estranged wife, Hollie Jo, filed a "protection from abuser order" against him, but it allowed for visits with the couple's son. "Father kills son, self" updates paint a gruesome set of details.
Yesterday's visit was arranged to take place at the man's mother's home in Barree Township. However, at some point, Ayers and Jo got into a heated argument.
At some point, the alleged shooter pulled out a handgun and shot the woman in her arms and legs. He then turned the gun on his son and fired, killing the child.
Moments later, he placed the child's lifeless body into the back of his truck and shot his wife in the face as she was retrieving her son.
Authorities say Ayers even shot at his own mother, who tried to intervene. Luckily, she escaped unharmed.
After the father killed his son, he turned the gun on himself. Police found his body miles away in a deserted area of Warriors Mark Township.
It's unknown why the man was carrying a gun when it was forbidden in the restraining order. However, the document alone implies a history of alleged abuse. Sadly, children are often caught in the middle of domestic squabbles. While these incidents are not rare, when a father kills a son
