TIPS TO AID YOUR JOB INTERVIEW....

FACIAL EXPRESSION AND TONE OF VOICE.

We interviewed a lady who had an impressive résumé; however, I noticed how much she frowned and kept interrupting my colleague with expressions like “Excuse me, Come again” , I was totally put off 5 minutes into the interview.

Interpretation: Wearing a frown sends the signal that you are unfriendly, could be hot-tempered and intimidating. It’s totally disrespectful to interrupt an interviewer, it gives the impression that you are a “know-it-all” and would hardly take to correction.

Correction: You don’t have to smile like a dummy but keep a warm and friendly face, have a good sense of humour, be soft-spoken, show confidence but be teachable and humble even if you’re a genius. Learn to listen, politely ask questions and wait for the interviewer to finish each statement or question before you speak. Your facial expression and tone of voice is very important especially if it’s a customer service job.

DON’T BE ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.

I know we are all working to make ends meet but that shouldn’t be the first reason for wanting a job. Apply for a job you hope to be excellent at, that way it’s easy to put in your best with or without motivation from others and in no time you become a top performer with an awesome earning power. The world does not celebrate

Lastly, sell yourself in line with your strengths and passions. If you are selected, congratulations; if not, cheer up, you may be penciled down for something better in the near future.

Everyone has an Ideal job and pay in mind, even CEOs and Managers. But we must all start somewhere. Most of the unemployed people I have met are without jobs because they are looking to land their ideal job with little stress, large pay and so on. Don’t belittle any job; for the most part, you make a position what it is. A manager who does not function as he should would have abused the office and devalued it before others.

Lastly, sell yourself in line with your strengths and passions. If you are selected, congratulations; if not, cheer up, you may be penciled down for something better in the near future.

These things can be learned, just put your mind to it and get ahead
